NJCF appeals for peace, dialogue amid Naga-Kuki tension

Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) on Sunday held a meeting with the United Naga Council (UNC) to seek an understanding of the ongoing conflict involving the Kuki community and explore ways to end the violence at the earliest.

During the meeting, the NJCF reaffirmed its commitment to peace and reconciliation, guided by Biblical principles of truth, justice and mercy.

The forum stated that reconciliation was not an option but a calling, and stressed that the Church must stand as a witness of hope during times of division.

The NJCF also informed the UNC that it would soon meet the Kuki Inpi to continue dialogue and strengthen efforts towards healing and unity.

Acknowledging the painful realities of the present situation, the forum said peace must be given a chance despite the challenges.

“As people of one faith living as neighbours, communities must resist the temptation of demonising one another, as such actions only deepen wounds and benefit no one,” the forum stated.

The NJCF appealed to all leaders, communities and individuals to join hands in bringing healing to the region and urged the faithful to remember that reconciliation remained the path towards a future where justice and mercy prevail.
