NLA Speaker accepts Imchen’s resignation

Kohima, January 24 (MExN): The NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkümer has accepted the resignation tendered by Imkong L Imchen, from the membership of the Thirteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) with effect from the forenoon of January 20.  The resignation was accepted under Article 190 clause 3(b) of the Indian constitution read with rule 180 Clause (1) (2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the NLA, informed a DIPR report. Consequent to his resignation, the Speaker has declared the seat mentioned against his name i.e. 28-Koridang A/C as vacant, it added, citing an NLA notification.  The four-time MLA won the 2018 NLA elections as a Naga People’s Front (NPF), candidate, but later ‘merged’ with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in April last year along with 20 others MLAs from NPF.  Imchen, who cited “personal ground” for his resignation in his letter to the NLA Speaker had earlier told The Morung Express that he was vying for the BJP ticket from 28 Koridang AC, in Mokokchung.
