NLA speaker adjourn 12th session of 13th NLA sine-die

Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Sharingain Longkumer today adjourned the 12th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) sine-die after completing all the proceedings. This 12th session is the last assembly session of the 13th House of NLA.

Perhaps, for the first time in the history of NLA, on September 20 it has have had the longest duration of the Question Hour, which witnessed 65 minutes over and above the normally allotted time, said Longkumer.

The 13th NLA house starting from first Session in 2018 to 12th Session (2022) have had 38 days of sittings and taken 151 hours and 50 minutes.

This 13th House has passed 26 Bills and adopted 8 Resolutions apart from various other very important businesses transacted, Longkumer said.  

The House have also discussed on 14 core subject matters under Rule-50 pertaining to various issues of public importance.

The 13th House passed 26 Reports, passed 26 Bills and adopted 8 Resolutions. Discussion on matters of Urgent Public Importance - 14. Public Accounts Committee-10 Reports for the year 2014 till date, Estimates Committee - 22 Reports, Committee on Public Undertakings - 43 Reports, Committee on Government Assurance -5 Reports and Committee on Subordinate Legislation - 27 Reports.
 
Rio thank all members for positive contributions
Earlier, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio  thanked NLA speaker for his commendable leadership in leading this 13th House, adding that the later had positively contributed towards the high standards of democratic decorum that this House.

He also lauded Deputy Speaker T. Yangseo, for carrying out his responsibilities in an appreciable manner.

Rio thanked all the members of NLA for making positive contributions towards the success of this 13th House.

 “The cooperation and support extended to my Government and my leadership by all the Members have been the foundation behind the successful initiatives we have carried out in this tenure,” Rio said.

We are members of an August House that represents the voice of the people and symbolizes the strong democratic foundations of the country as a temple of democracy, he said.

Over the past decades, the members who have stood on this floor have served the Naga people with committed distinction, irrespective of affiliation, he said.
