Nlumrai Hegwang today emerged the coveted title of Zeliang wrestling champion at the 26th wrestling meet 2022 organized by Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) at Ngwalwa village under Peren District.
Son of Akeng Hegwang from Mpai village, he pocketed a total cash prize of Rs 70,000.
Runner up Suiriepeu Hegui, son of Hiarangteing Hegui from Kezanglwa village, carried a total cash prize of Rs 50, 000.
Peinaci Kereu, son of Iteibeu Kereu from Mpai village stood third place and awarded with a total prize of Rs 25,000.
Keyigumbe Dwaswang, son of Ngauneu Dwaswang from Ngwalwa village bagged 4th position and received a total prize of Rs 15,000. Losing quarter finalists received Rs 2000 each.
In their presence at the meet, Nagaland Wrestling Association, Angami Sports Association and Chakhesang Wresting Association have extended cash for additional prize money to the winners.
Iteiwang PS to Namri Nchang, advisor water resources department Nagaland graced the inaugural function as the special guest while guest of honour Tsenthungo E. Ngulie, SDO (C) Ngwalwa gave away prize to the winners.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by ZWA advisor Perangteilu while ZWA president Ada Nsanglung delivered presidential address.
ZWA general secretary Dileugi administered oath to 60 wrestlers from four zones (Southern, Eastern, Western and Northern).
Vote of thanks was proposed by ZWA joint secretary Kechidi.
