A sect of Nagaland race lived independently since time immemorial and the highest of Democracy prevailed starting from the family to clan to village level. They fiercely protected their domain form external aggression with their blood and dear life. Yet they are scattered and disorganized. The sense of belongingness and oneness grew with the spread of Christianity and the far sightedness of a few educated person (s) and those who were exposed to the outside world. This sect of people having close affinity in culture, physical structure, food, habits etc. were known as the Nagas by the outside world.
Then the colonial (Britishers) came and initially. The Angami Naga tribe fiercely resisted their entry into our land but at a later stage with mutual consent trust the colonist administered some part of our land for a short while. It was during this period that the spirit of oneness grew even more stronger and the far sighted vision of our leaders of yore came under one umbrella to strive for the aspiration of our people. Thus the NNC came into existence.
The NNC is a political set up which belongs to the Naga people and it is the only political institution mandated by the Naga people to shoulder the responsibility to fight for the political aspiration of the Nagas. If we go down the political history lane of the Naga movement we come across many occasion where joker at fate played its cruel joke among the Nagas many a times and become a divided house along tribal line and political differences and the NNC was also fragmented.
The NNC is not a new organization, we are very much a part and parcel of the NNC and we still uphold the political legacy handed down to us by our pre-deceased political leaders. The word Non-Accordist only denotes that we do not acknowledge/accept the Shillong Accord which had far reaching negative consequence on the Naga Political movement. If the other NNC group also denounce the accord, abandon the peace/Transit Camps and sideline those people who still follow the ideology of the person who are the instrumental in signing of the accord then automatically we all came under one banner of the NNC and together we can strive for the political aspiration of our people.
Regarding the elevation of Shri. Kuimukam to the post of President, it is purely on internal matter of the NNC Non-Accordist. According to the need of the hour the responsibility of the highest office has been entrusted to him and he will discharge his duties accordingly. Some had written some very provocative article which is very silly. Some even wrote that we have elected him without national concensus. What national consensus do the mean. There are so many groups even in the NNC leaving aside their groups. Let us be practical and not write irrelevant issue. The post of the President N/A that matter any other portfolio of the NNC Non-Accordist does not belong to any individuals, the right man will hold the right post and if the need arises we can always change the person holding the post. The arena of the NNC is vast and it can accommodate the whole Naga populace. The NNC Non-Accordist call upon all right thinking Naga patriots and intellectuals to come forward join hands and work for a honourable solution for the Nagas. We also call upon all those who are barking like mad dogs without knowing their own self and trying to create confusion among the people to stop their nefarious activities forthwith. Let us stop provoking each other instead let us advice each other constructively and be sincere to each other and together we can.
