NNC only hope for Naga unity, says FGN

Dimapur, Jan 4 (MExN): With the assertion that Naga National Council (NNC) is the only ‘legitimate’ foundation for Nagas to unite, the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) says Isak Chishi Swu and Th. Muivah returning home, recently, is “without hope”.

According to V Phutoi Zhimomi, Midan Peyu of Sumi Region FGN, the two NSCN-IM chiefs have reached home with no hope after going abroad in 1992 on their own accord. This was “without the peoples’ mandate” and the two left with an agenda of propaganda to “internationalize Naga cause.

The FGN questioned what sort of promises would the two give to the Nagas this time, or whether it is to kill more Nagas. “Now they are at the edge of their graves. At such stage they should speak the truth to the Nagas and they should not continue to deceive the Nagas. But they should say that we have committed wrong by forming a new organization because the NNC is the only authentic political organization of Nagaland and which is a legitimate foundation for the Nagas to reunite and through NNC, the Nagas have the hope to achieve their cherished goal” it stated.

The FGN asserted that now “finally their terrorist activities have been exposed,” no country allows them to stay, including The Netherlands refusing to extend Swu and Muivah’s visas. Muivah’s password was thus seized by Thai immigration officers on July 17, 2006 and was ‘treated as a criminal’ and was told he cannot enter Thailand for 100 years, the Midan Peyu stated. The same was with the Indian authorities who refused renewal when the two leaders traveled with Indian passports.

On socialism, the FGN maintained thus: “In 1980, they declared ‘without this salvation in socialism, we promise no future to the Naga people; therefore any force opposing it would obviously amount to being anti-national and anti-people’”. Thus they started to kill whosoever opposed socialism and their leadership”. (The quote is from ‘Manifesto page 50 & 51, stated the FGN’s Midan Peyu).
