Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Government of NNC/GDRN (N-A) has rejected as “false, misleading and factually incorrect” a press release claiming that 18 of its cadres had defected to the FGN faction led by Sukhai Awomi.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NNC/GDRN (N-A) said the claim was carried in the Nagaland Post on August 27 under the caption “FGN (Sukhai Awomi) welcomes 19 homecomers.”
The group alleged that Thongliba Sangtam and Eangba Konyak, both holding the rank of lieutenant colonel, had recently been suspended from NNC/GDRN (N-A) for what it described as “anti-social, reckless behaviour and substance abuse.”
It further claimed that the remaining 15 names mentioned in the press release did not exist in its records or enrolment and described them as “bogus entities.”
The NNC/GDRN (N-A) said it would not be swayed by what it termed “cheap and false propaganda” and maintained that it remained committed to the Naga national cause and its responsibilities.
It appealed to all Naga factions to condemn attempts by individuals or groups to “malign and damage the credibility” of any organisation through incorrect, false or misleading claims.
