No dark vehicle windshields, windows

Dimapur, Jan 11 (MExN): Kohima Superintendent of Police notifies all vehicle owners in the capital that visual transmission of light through the windshield and rear window of motor vehicles should not be less than 70% and the transmission of light of the glass used for side windows should not be less than 50%. Vehicle owners are advised to comply with the above specifications and remove dark films used on windshields to avoid being prosecuted. The directive is as per Rule 100 (2) of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) 1989. 

Any contravention to the above specifications would invite prosecution under various sections of Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Kohima district police will commence enforcing the above rules within its jurisdiction after expiry of seven days from the date of issue of this notice, the SP in a circular informed. The notification is being issued in accordance with the directives of the Government of India, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi. All concerned are directed to comply with the notification and cooperate with the police in enforcing the aforesaid rules.
