
Noklak, September 22 (MExN): The people of Khiamniungan have resolved not to participate in any election process of the Centre or State “until and unless” the demand of Eastern Nagaland for separate statehood, “Frontier Nagaland” is fulfilled.
The resolution for the same was taken during a Joint Consultative Meeting of Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) with all the frontal organisations and village councils on September 22 at Noklak Headquarter
The meeting was held in support of the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation’s (ENPO) Resolution for separate statehood ‘Frontier Nagaland,’ informed a KTC press release issued by its President M Thangou and Executive Chairman, Pakhiu Khiam.
It further resolved to ban any election-related campaign by any political parties, candidature declaration programme by any individual(s), group or party under Khiamniungan jurisdiction.
The meeting declared also its full support to the decision of Eastern Naga Students' Federation (ENSF) to organise a mass public walkathon on October 7 to press for the Frontier Nagaland statehood demand.
In addition, all villages under KTC jurisdiction will organise village-level joint meeting, in one week time, of the Village council, Public organization, student organization, political party workers and Indenting candidate/s if any, to enforce the decision of ENPO’s decision, the release informed.
The meeting also re-affirmed the KTC Resolution M/No. 6 of 2022, passed down since 2018 to take stern action against any council standing against the ENPO Statehood demand.
