Most ASF cases were reported Pungro Block in Kiphire District and area surrounding Phek Headquarter, including a State Pig Breeding Farm at Suthazou, he said.

It is more or less contained, Dr Lama said, though informing that the department is constantly keeping a vigil and weekly reports are being submitted to the Centre and State government.

Chief Veterinary Officer, Phek Dr Kewelelo Mero also informed that it was a relief that no fresh cases were reported in the last few days in the district. Most cases were reported in April.

Currently, there are restrictions on sale of pork in the affected areas, particularly, those from outside, in both the districts.
Meanwhile, departmental sources informed that cases in Mon district were ‘few and far between’ and more or less controlled.
