No new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland, one recovery

For the first time since January 1 this year, no new COVID-19 cases were reported from anywhere in Nagaland on Sunday. With one patient from Dimapur district recovering from the disease in the last 24 hours, the active cases in the state dropped to 59.

As per data compiled by the State Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), the sample positivity rate has remained below 5% for the past three weeks in the state.

The state also did not record any COVID-19 fatalities since March 5 and the death toll remained unchanged at 753 on Sunday. As per the daily health bulletin issued by the IDSP, over the course of the pandemic, four more patients with COVID-19 positivity also died, but they were categorised as “Non Covid Deaths.”

Since the pandemic broke in May 2020, the state has reported a total of 35,447 COVID-19 cases out of which 33,149 people have recovered from the disease. 

As per the IDSP bulletin, out of 59 active cases, one patient with moderate symptoms was on oxygen support; three had mild symptoms; and 55 were asymptomatic. 

Dimapur district has the highest COVID-19 caseload with 40 active cases, 12 in Kohima, five in Mokokchung, and one each in Kiphire and Longleng. As on Sunday, there are no active COVID-19 cases in Mon, Tuensang, Peren, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha, and Zunheboto districts.

It must be noted here that data reporting for the new districts are covered under former districts as there are no separate surveillance units yet for the new districts.
