Kohima, January 3 (MExN): It is time for the people to ‘work and eat’, Parliamentary Secretary KV Pusa reminds while drawing as example Khuzama village which he said is one that has now attained self-sufficiency in its local economy. Pusa has high praises for the people of Khuzama village, who, according to the Congress leader, are as much self-sufficient in their local economy as being ardent workers and supporters of peace.
Inaugurating the 29th Khuzama Youth Club annual sports meet this morning, Pusa hailed the people of Khuzama for their efforts towards peace, which, he said, has ushered in self-sufficiency in the village. He reiterated that peace is, and should be the pre-requisite for all round development and economic growth of the people.
The village has a good record in agricultural production of potato, tomato and cabbage which are also supplied to neighboring states. The Parliamentary Secretary said this could be made possible all due to the effort of the people in maintaining peace and above all for being God fearing people. Pusa urged Khuzama to lead fellow Nagas to bringing peace in the state. “Khuzama is most peaceful village in Southern Angami area” Pusa said in his congratulations to the villagers. He also urged other Nagas to follow the example of Khuzama’s denizens, who he reiterated, are economically sound.
Pusa also advised the youth to abstain from anti-social activities but rather, invest their time into being productive. He was of the opinion that Naga youths have adopted a bad precedence by ‘looking for easy lives’ without contributing to the ailing Naga society. It is time for the Naga people to work and eat, the Parliamentary Secretary reminded.
The Congress leader also donated Rs. 1 lakh towards development of the village’s ground, Rs. 25,000 to the organizing committee of the meet and Rs. 1, 000 each to folk singers who performed at the event. The Parliamentary Secretary was also accompanied by MLA Supongmeren Jamir.
