‘No transportation of crude oil outside Nagaland’

GPRN/NSCN on extraction of oil and natural gas

DIMAPUR, JULY 26 (MExN): The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN/NSCN) has informed the general Nagas and different companies/organisations involved in negotiating for the possible extraction of oil and natural Gas and other mineral resources in Nagaland, that Nagas are the sole owners of their land and whatever mineral wealth that lay underneath. The joint meeting of the NPAC and Cabinet dated 26th July 2012 reiterated that any company, Indian or international, willing to explore and extract mineral resources in Nagaland must first invest in setting up infrastructure in Nagaland to ensure that employment and other opportunities are available to the Naga youths. 

A press note issued by the MIP informed to all the oil and gas companies who have expressed desire to extract the natural resources in Nagaland that GPRN/NSCN desires that oil refineries and related machineries first be set up in Nagaland. The GPRN/NSCN stated that it will not allow any company to transport crude oil outside Nagaland. “Companies, groups and individuals having notions that extracted crude oil will be transported to refineries in other states are cautioned that GPRN/NSCN will firmly resist exploitation of Nagas in any manner”.
