
DIMAPUR, JUNE 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) will participate in the global celebration of Olympic Day on June 22 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, under the theme “Let’s Move & Celebrate.”
A press release from the NOA informed that this year the event is designed to inspire children aged 6 years – 12 years, aimed at promoting an active lifestyle, promote sportsmanship and celebrate the Olympic spirit.
The event will be conducted in various categories as follows: - 50 Meters: 6 years– Under 8 years (Born between 23/06/2016 - 22/06/2018); 80 Meters: 8 years –Under 10 years (Born between 23/06/2014 - 22/06/2016); 100 Meters: 10 years–Under 12 years (Born between 23/06/2012- 22/06/2014).
In this connection, the NOA has encouraged parents, guardians, schools and sports enthusiasts to actively support and encourage their children’s participation in this memorable event. By joining the Olympic Day Run, young participants will not only engage in physical fitness but also develop lasting friendship and a sense of unity through sports., it stated.
The NOA also announced that a total cash prize up to Rs 100,000 (one lakh) will be awarded to the winners, along with merit certificate. Each participant will also receive certificate from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), it added.
Registration for the Olympic Day Run 2024 is now open to all young participants aged 6 years to 12 years. There is no entry fee.
The last date for registration is June 17. To register, participants may walk-in at NOA office, Kohima before the registration deadline or apply online at https://forms.gle/n2Nv3D5LuGPsVBk56.
