NSUD calls for action against absconding company owner
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 27 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Union Delhi (NSUD) today appealed for the concerned authorities to take stringent action against the masterminds behind the Noida fake call centre scam which resulted in the arrest of 126 people, including many persons from the North East, especially Nagaland.
A press note from the NSUD General Secretary, Mathiuchunbou Rimai said that the NSUD held several meeting at Nagaland House, New Delhi along with lawyers, family members & relatives of the accused persons.
“The concerned Noida Police Station was visited to ensure investigation transparency and tête-à-tête interacted with our brothers and sisters who are in jail. Further, it was personally requested to the Luksar jailer to keep an eye on them that their necessities are met,” the NSUD stated. It added that the case is being handled by lawyers and it is our priority to bail those accused at the earliest.”
The NSUD said that the accused persons were persuaded by job portals and compelled to “forcefully work under the command of supervisors, not aware of their intentions and earned a meager amount to sustain a living and support their parents.”
“It’s an irony that the owner of the scam company is absconding whereas the innocent employees are in threat,” it lamented. The NSUD urged the authorities to “take stringent action against the masterminds and release those innocent accused who are victimized.”
The union advised that “parents should be well certain about their children's career” and urged against being convinced by false promises of jobs with big salaries advertised on social media. “If any member/s are found involving or in support of such company/s, the union shall impose penalties,” it cautioned.
It further urged the parents to seek out the NSUD office for any assistance before sending their children to Delhi. “We need to create a safe community and address such issues. Awareness should be raised among youths and school children, teachers and parents,” the union noted.
