Noklak, July 19 (MExN): The Noklak District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has approved the 2026-27 Local Area Development Programme (LADP) schemes for the 56 Noklak and 57 Thonoknyu Assembly constituencies and recommended recognition for a new private school at Chiphur village.
The decisions were taken at the board's monthly meeting held on July 13 at the SP Conference Hall under the chairmanship of MLA and DPDB Chairman Benei M Lamthio, according to an official statement.
Welcoming members, Lamthio expressed concern over the performance of government schools in the district and stressed the need to improve the education system.
Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman P Mono Khiamniungan reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting, after which newly posted officials -- Additional Deputy Commissioner Ralise Sangtam, Extra Assistant Commissioner Puhan Khiamniungan and Divisional Forest Officer Nzanthung -- introduced themselves to the board.
The board discussed a proposal from Tsoiphu Baptist Church to establish a private school at Chiphur village under the name Baptist School Chiphur. The proposal was approved and recommended to the state government for consideration.
The board also approved the LADP schemes, including iconic projects, for the 2026-27 financial year in respect of the 56 Noklak and 57 Thonoknyu Assembly constituencies.
Taking note that the office building of the Economics and Statistics Department in Noklak has been completed, the chairman stressed the need for its early operationalisation to facilitate the issuance of birth and death certificates. The board approved the proposal for opening the office and recommended it to the government along with the requirement for adequate staff.
The Sericulture Department made a PowerPoint presentation on its activities, progress and achievements.
The board entrusted the Social Welfare Department with making a presentation at the next DPDB meeting.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, with the chairman urging members to work collectively towards the smooth and rapid development of the district.
