Noklak DPDB mulls local taxi service in district

Noklak, August 17 (MExN): The Noklak District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on August 17 deliberated on the proposal for operation of local taxi service in the district.

In its meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference hall, Noklak under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman DPDB Noklak, Hiazu Meru, the Board considered the proposal for for operating/running a local taxi service in Noklak for public utility and facilities, a DIPR report informed.

The house was of the view that it would serve as an opportunity for the unemployed youths to earn their livelihood while providing easy transportation for the people.

As such, the house decided on a Rate Fixation Committee in order to fix the rates for the same.

Meanwhile, The Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus service from Noklak to Kohima and Dimapur was also discussed during the meeting and the house approved and recommended the proposal to the higher authority for consideration.

SDO (Civil) Thonoknyu, Longdiba Sangtam informed the house regarding the road condition of Thonoknyu sub-division and highlighted that both the roads connecting to Thonoknyu sub-division from Tuensang and Noklak, are in a deplorable condition due to continuous rain. In this regard, the house deliberated and agreed to apprise the concerned department.

Further, the house formed a committee comprising of EAC Noklak, B Pukha Lam; Medical Officer, CHC Noklak, Dr Chongya and SDO PHED Noklak, Er Khaoshai Lam for preliminary case study on Scrub Thypus, Thyphoid and Peripherial Neuritis which are very common diseases in the region.

During the meeting, the house also adopted Noklak Town and agreed to make use of resources available in their respective departments for the upgradation of Noklak Town.  

Formation of Officers’ Club at Noklak town was also discussed and a committee under the chairmanship of DC was formed so as to enhance coordination among the officers posted at Noklak, as per the DIPR report.
