Noklak farmers receive training on scientific methodologies of livestock farming

Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): A three-day training programme was conducted at ICAR, Medziphema under the theme of, “Fighting Drugs and Unemployment with education and livelihood skills at Unreached Border Areas,” for the farmers of Noklak district. 

As the special guest, Dr Pritpal Kaur, SP of Noklak district, encouraged those interested unemployed youths to take up entrepreneurial ventures for building a self- sufficient Nagaland. Along with preservation of their biodiversity, she also reminded that farmers are the backbone of every society and encouraged them to inculcate dignity of labor and have pride in what they do.

According to a press release on Sunday, the training was conducted in order to teach scientific methodologies of animal rearing, vaccination, hygiene maintenance and feed making, among other things. In total, 30 farmers from 16 villages of Noklak district, mostly graduates, were given this opportunity, it said.

Dr Mahak, scientist from ICAR, who chaired the programme also stated that they will be training the next batch in the coming months. 

At the end of the training, the Joint Director of ICAR Nagaland and scientists from ICAR, IVRI Kolkata addressed the participants and also provided piglets and feeds to the farmers. The entire initiative was organized by the ICAR Centre, Medziphema, in collaboration with Noklak Police, the release stated.
