Noklak, September 13 (MExN): Seeds distribution programme under NEC and MIDH 2021-22 organised by the Department of Horticulture, Noklak was held in the office of the DHO, Noklak on September 10.
Speaking on the occasion, SDO (Civil) C Phuniang expressed confidence that the District particularly the farming community will be greatly benefited and therefore, challenged the beneficiary farmers gathered to give a notable impact in the market through their products. Opining that there are two form of farming traditional and modern type of farming he encouraged the farmers to adopt the more progressive farming practice for more economical upliftment of the District keeping in mind the sustainability of the environment. It is unreasonable on our part to purchase farm produce from other states and areas when most of us are farmers here, he added.
A DIPR report stated that District Horticulture Officer, Noklak, Tiakaba Longchar DHO, caution the farmers on proper used of the seeds and that action shall be initiated against defaulters. Further, he informed that inspection shall be undertaken. He announced that there are six Vegetable villages under North East Council (NEC) (post COVID-19 economic recovery) in the District viz Noklak, Nokyan B, Yokao, Panso A, Sanglao and Chiliso where the seeds were distributed to the villages. And also seeds were also distributed to vegetables villages namely Noklak, Nokyan, Yokao, Choklangan and Kingjung which is under MIDH 2021 -22.
DPO Noklak, Meren Jamir also encouraged the farmers during the programme.
