‘Non-Communicable Diseases are now major threats’

Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): “Non-Communicable Diseases are now major threats in our society. It is imperative that these preventable diseases are managed and control before they poses high risks in our community,” observed Dr Mereninla Senlem, Joint Director & SPO, NPCDCS, Directorate of Health &FW. 

Management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) includes detecting, screening and treating these diseases. NCD interventions can be delivered through a primary health care approach to strengthen early detection and timely treatment and providing health care to their door steps. Dr Mereninla stated this while presenting an overview of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) which is one of the integral national programmes under NCD.

District Media Officer, NHM Dimapur in a press release stated that Dr Mereninla was speaking at the training on NCD MO Portal for medical officers and nurses of CHCs and PHCs under CMO establishment held at CMO’s Conference Hall on August 6.

Vitsiatho Nyuwi, State Programme Officer, TATA Trusts, Nagaland oriented the participants on the web portal application and process of data entry and uploading. He presented a step by step instruction of how to document NCD in the health unit. Such timely documentation can help in early detection and treatment of the disease.

The programme was chaired by Dr Antoly Suu, Dy CMO Dimapur and other officials present were Dr Ebenezer, MO NCD, and DPM (NHM) Dimapur. Block Program Managers and Data Entry Operators, NCD Dimapur also attended the training.
