Non-indigenous settlers’ accusation: Jalukie Zangdi Village demands ‘facts’

Jalukie, September 6 (MExN): The Jalukie Zangdi Village, on September 6, has expressed resentment over  inclusion of its name in alleged “non-indigenous settlers from Manipur state” in a Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) media release and sought ‘facts’ of such assertion.

The Jalukie Zangdi Village seeks WSH to “provide the facts that on what ground the village is called the non-indigenous settlers from Manipur state,” stated a rejoinder from Bedusai Thelu-o, Chairman, Village Council, Jalukie Zangdi Village and Kuvehu Vero, Head GB.

The rejoinder stated that the village was founded by an indigenous citizen of Nagaland namely late Zashetso Thelu-o of Porba Village, Phek district in the year 1985.

The village land was donated by Old Jalukie Village under the agreement signed between Old Jalukie Village Council and late Thelu-o according to customary norms, it maintained.

The village was recognized by the government on October 1, 1991 and the citizens of the village are Chakhesang and it is a constituent unit of Western Chakhesang Hoho, it added.
