The North East Adventure and Motorsports Conclave took place today in Dimapur, Nagaland. It was jointly organised by the Nagaland Adventure and Motorsports Association (NAMSA) and Federation of Adventure & Motor Sports Associations of North East (FAMSANE) at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence in Sovima and also coincided with the dedicatory function of the NAMSA Complex.

Speaking at the conclave Advisor, School Education, KT Sukhalu, recalled how motorsports has grown in Nagaland over the past two decades and the potential it has to promote adventure tourism in the state. According to him, Nagaland has the terrain and the only thing required was dedication and sincerity.

While informing that there is a proposal on the works to develop a go-karting centre at the Regional Motorsport Centre, he said that unlike in the past, there are avenues today for the Naga youth to grow in sports. “We see the potential in our youth but we did not have the avenues. Today, we have a facility here,” he said, while calling on the youth to avail the facilities provided by the government.

FAMSANE President, Abu Metha, who delivered the keynote address, termed NAMSA as a pioneering organization that put Nagaland in the motorsport map. Recollecting the journey of the NAMSA, he said that it has come a long way from twenty years ago.  From organizing state, national and international level events, he said that drivers and navigators from Nagaland and the north-east have not failed to bring laurels to the country. “So the question arises, why can’t we emerge bigger?”

While expressing confidence that it will only grow, with the introduction of the Motorsport Centre, he said that synchronizing motorsport with adventure tourism would only be advantageous to tourism.
