Fifty families affected by land sinking in Aizawl Aizawl, August 21 (PTI): At least 50 families were today affected due to sinking of land following rain in Hunthar locality here, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Director C Lalpeksanga said today. Many displaced families were living with relatives, while temporary accommodations were made for others in government buildings, Lalpeksanga said. Sinking of land occurred after downpour in the city for several days which also severely affected the road linking the lone Lengpui Airport, he said. Experts from the Geological Survey of India (GSI) in Shillong would be arriving in Aizawl on Monday to conduct a detailed study of the area, he said. In another incident, two houses collapsed in a landslide at Kepran n Aizawl district on Friday.   Mizoram govt asked to immediately set up ILP check gate Aizawl, August 21 (NNN): Accusing the state government of not properly monitoring the ILP counter opened recently at Bairabi railway station, the youth wing of the Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) has asked the former to immediately set up ILP check gate at the railway station. The youth wing alleged that the ILP is not being checked properly as a result of which non-tribal passengers move freely without bothering for ILP. It further claimed that not even a single ILP has been issued from the counter. The youth wing in a statement said that the opening of ILP counter was not enough and demanded that an ILP check gate be established at Bairabi for proper checking of non-tribal not possessing ILP.   MZP to host ZOFEST in Myanmar Aizawl, August 21 (NNN): Aimed at integrating the Zo descendants, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the largest student body in Mizoram, will host ZOFEST at Rihkhawdar in Myanmar. Organising Committee of ZOFEST met on Saturday and decided that the event will be held from December 5 to 9 this year. The fest will be held at Rihkhawdar in Chin state of Myanmar where representatives of different tribes of Zo community are expected to assemble for communal integration. The last ZOFEST was held at Haflong in North Cachar Hills district of Assam in 2015 where a large crowd of different Zo tribes gathered together as part of good will, forging integrity among the community.
