Taxi driver who hit Meghalaya CM's car booked Shillong, February 13 (IANS): A case of attempt to murder was registered against a tourist taxi driver for hitting the official vehicle of Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, police said on Friday. "We have registered a case under Section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) against Jeskalur L. Mawdoh for hitting the chief minister's vehicle," said East Khasi Hills' Superintendent of Police Mariahom Kharkrang. Mawdoh is presently under police custody for three days. On Thursday, Mawdoh hit the moving official vehicle of the chief minister as Sangma was proceeding to the helipad at Upper Shillong to leave for Delhi via Guwahati for attending an important meeting. The chief minister was not injured in the accident.   Rahul to kick off Cong poll campaign in Assam from Feb 15 New Delhi, February 13 (PTI): Seeking to retain power amid a keen BJP challenge in the key northeastern state of Assam, Rahul Gandhi will launch the Congress poll campaign on Monday. The Congress Vice President will be addressing a public meeting at Jorhat, the constituency represented by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. In power from the last 15 years in the state, Congress is going alone in the polls. During his two-day visit, Gandhi will be addressing a booth workers meeting in Sonitpur district and women workers meeting in Lakhimpur district on February 15.
