Nagaland today joined the rest of the north eastern states in launching the seven-day long North East Festival as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Week under the theme “Journey of Nagaland since statehood.”

Gracing the launching ceremony here today at Hotel Japfü, Nagaland Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha said that the North East Festival will be culminated on May 4 at Guwahati, Assam, which will be graced by President of India. Today, he said, India is being counted as one of the most influential and most developed country in the world with the largest democracy.

Sinha said that Nagaland has also being marching shoulder to shoulder with every initiative the country has been taking to make the lives of the people better by creating more infrastructures.

Now, on every parameter, the state occupies a place among all the states of the country as a proud state with lots of achievement to show, having set a unique features on how the state has been run and others learning from it, the home commissioner said.

He maintained that there are also some areas where the state has been lacking and such gaps need to be addressed with zeal and passion.
Sinha also called upon one and all to take a pledge to rededicate themselves and exercise their passion and zeal to make Nagaland one the most developed states in the country.

Special song on “God Bless My Nagaland” by students of Mezhür Higher Secondary Kohima, cultural presentation by Angami cultural troupe, choral by Ameü Usou Zao and The Choir, power point presentation on “Journey of Nagaland since statehood” and photography exhibition on “History of the State” by Directorate of Information & Public Relations marked the launching ceremony.

The programme was chaired by Nagaland’s Commissioner Rovilatuo Mor.

Meanwhile, the week-long North East Festival for Nagaland chapter will also be marked by exhibition of agri and horti products, walkathon in all the districts, etc. The state officials will also join the culmination programme at Guwahati on May 4.
