Heroin seized in Mizoram, 1 held Aizawl, January 19 (PTI): Officials of the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department seized 52.9 grams of heroin from a woman in Champai district today, department spokesman Peter Zohmingthanga said.The spokesman said the 37-year-old woman was arrested from Mualkawi village near the Mizoram-Myanmar border for possessing contraband. The seized contraband is worth Rs two lakh in the local market, he said. The accused was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.   Itanagar added to Smart City Mission New Delhi, January 19 (PTI): Three cities of Uttar Pradesh are among nine chosen in the latest round of the Centre's flagship Smart City Mission, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said today. The number of cities picked under the project now stands at 99. Under the scheme, each city will get Rs 500 crore from the Centre for implementing various projects. The nine cities chosen in the fourth round are -- Bareilly, Moradabad and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Erode in Tamil Nadu, Bihar Sharif in Bihar, Silvasa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Diu in Daman and Diu, Kavarati in Lakshdweep and Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh.   9,700 Methamphetamine tablets seized, two arrested Guwahati, January 19 (PTI): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 9,700 Methamphetamine tablets weighing approximately 1.09 kilogram from two persons and arrested them in Guwahati, NCB said today. They had allegedly smuggled the tablets from Myanmar. Acting on specific inputs, the NCB seized the tablets from two persons on VIP Road in Guwahati yesterday, the Bureaus Superintendent Dilip Robidas said in a press release here today. Both were arrested under NDPS Act 1985 (amended), Robidas said. A woman from Manipur is the main supplier of the drugs and this was revealed by the arrested persons during interrogation, the NCB official said, adding, the tablets were transported to Guwahati in a bus.
