Northeast Fiesta: Students in Jalandhar organizes third edition

Nagaland dance troupe perform at the third edition of Northeast Fiesta held from April 7 to 8 in Jalandhar.
  Jalandhar, April 11 (MExN): The Northeast Students’ Organization, Jalandhar organized the third edition of Northeast Fiesta from April 7 to 8 in association with Viva Collage, Jalandhar. It was powered by VH1 and MTV Beats and co-powered by Sai Kripa Arts.   “With the aim of celebrating culture, connecting people and transforming life, this extravaganza Northeast Fiesta, the biggest carnival of Northeast India in Punjab was organized to showcase the cultural diversity of all the Northeastern states of India to all the people of Punjab with a cultural exchange program to foster integrity, prosperity and excellence,” stated a press release received here.   During the day, handicraft, handloom, art, traditional sport, photography and tourism exhibition were presented from all the eight states of the North East. All the eight states also presented their traditional folk music and dance, while few bands based in the North East and also from Jalandhar participated in both the days.   Meanwhile, a discussion session on relevant topics of North East was also held with Arvind Mishra, a Guinness World Records holder and also a TEDx speaker. Start ups from the region, namely TOTELL, Assam Arunachal Resort Harmutty, Deal Expertz, Maatrima also participated in the discussion session to boost various business opportunities and promote tourism and industrial sector, it was informed.   DJ Prinal, an eminent EDM artist of VH1 enthralled the audience on the last day of the event.   This year, Kritika Sharma, FBB Campus Princess Winner 2018 of Miss India organization was the showstopper for designers Linthoi and Nandini from Manipur and Assam respectively. Besides, she mesmerized the audience with performances of Bollywood songs and a Sikkimese folk dance, according to the release. The people of Punjab also witnessed fashion show by other designers from North East.   As the concept of the festival is cultural exchange, folk songs and dance were performed by local artists of Punjab. Parika Tattar, a young fashion designer from Jalandhar also showcased her fashion collection.   Singing talents from North East like Salchame Sangma and Ophilia Kharluki from Meghalaya and Fable from Nagaland enthralled the audience of Punjab.   The third edition of Northeast Fiesta also had international artists – Niharika Gyawali from Nepal enthralled the audience with her voice, while there were also professional models from Afghanistan, Bhutan, and few from African countries participating in the designers’ show.   Renowned footballers from Manipur, Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, the first goal scorer of India in any FIFA tournament and Nongdamba Naorem, both from India’s Under-17 Football World Cup 2017 squad, graced the event as guests of honour.   The local visitors enjoyed and also complimented the ethnic cuisines presented by the students from North East, the release added.
