Northern Angami-T20 Bash from March 29

Kohima, March 18 (MExN): The 4th edition of 10-Northern Angami -T20 Bash 2017 will begin from March 29 with 16 teams of the Assembly Constituency to bat at Kohima Village Sports Association Ground, Ziekezou.   This was announced during a press conference by Convenor of organizing committee Kethosituo Elvis Mepfhuo in the private residence of Parliamentary Secretary for State Lotteries and Music Task Force, Khriehu Liezietsu here Saturday evening.   The tournament is organised by Brotherhood Group with the initiative and complete sponsorship of Khriehu Liezietsu under the theme ‘Bat for unity’.   The champion team and runners up of the tournament will walk away a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively along with running trophies, besides individual awards.   Organising Committee Member, Keviselhou Sekhose said the aim of the tournament is to develop the game and to unite the youths of the constituency while also maintaining that the best players are being selected to participate in higher and bigger competitions.   He also informed that this year a new addition has been made as the highest wicket taker and highest run scorer would be honoured with purple cap and orange cap respectively.   He also announced that the bells used on the stamp would be having LED lights, which would be first of its kind in the State.   The giant LED screen displaying live scores and third umpire decisions introduced last year would also continue. After the league stages, the top 2 teams from all the four groups will qualify for the quarterfinals, which would be knockout.   The tournament be declared open by Deputy Commissioner of Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan as the chief guest on Mach 29 during the opening ceremony while Kethosituo Sekhose,  SDO (Sadar)  will be the guest of honour for closing ceremony on April 12.   The 16 playing teams include P. Khel Eagles, D. Khel United, T. Khel Knights, L. Khel Upper Riders, L. Khel Lower Vikings, Kenuozou Wolves, North Block Warriors, Rakabozou/Sepfiizou Challengers, Upper Bayavii Sixers, Middle Bayavii Lions, Lower Bayavii Giants, High School Daredevils, Peraciezie Royals, Zienuobadze High Flyers, Mission Compound Dukes and Chedema Strikers.   It may be mentioned here that High School Daredevils and North Block Warriors has been the champions and runners up of the tournament since its first edition in 2014.
