Not a time to blame or point fingers: Azo's rebuttal to Therie on ENPO impasse

Kohima, March 31 (MExN): One should not blame the present elected legislators or the Chief Minister just to “gain political mileage or political popularity,” MLA & Leader of NPF Legislature Party Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu stated today.

In a rejoinder to the a press statement issued by the former Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, K Therie on March 30 regarding the ongoing Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO) issue, Azo opined that “this is not the time to blame one another or point fingers at one another.”

“I believe this is a time for all sections of the people regardless of tribes or party to put our heads together in order to resolve issues in the greater interest of the Nagas,” he added.

The MLA further noted that “if we are to play the blame game it would be wiser if past and present legislators regardless of political parties equally take the blame for the mess that we have created and in this nail-biting situation.”

He also maintained a figure like Therie should have shown more political maturity and bring about a positive outcome on the issue instead of going to the Raj Bhavan and accusing the present people’s representative, specially the Chief Minister.

All elected political parties have come together for an opposition-less government in the greater interest of the Naga people so as to play the role of an active facilitator to bring about an early, honourable, acceptable, and inclusive solution to the protracted Naga political issue, Azo pointed out.

Accordingly, one should not blindly accuse the present “opposition-less representatives” of being voiceless or held responsible for the outcome of the ENPO issue and show maturity “while dealing with any sensitive issues and not pass the buck to anyone, he asserted.

Meanwhile, on personal as well as the Naga People’s Party (NPF) behalf, Azo urged the ENPO people and its leadership to consider the decision to refrain from participation in the coming Lok Sabha election on April 19, but actively participate and take the lead to elect the popular representative to Delhi so that the concerned person can “deliver justice to the Naga people as well as the ENPO demand.”
