Not much achievement in 12 years, NUTA on NU

Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The Nagaland University Teachers Association (NUTA) admitted that Nagaland University in its 12 years of existence has not achieved much “worth compromising to its age”. However it declared fullest support to any redress initiatives to correct the various counts of mismanagement within the NU system.  

“The association admits that the university in its 12 years of existence has not achieved much worth compromising to its age; it is a matter of fact that there are lots of irregularities, mismanagement, gross violation of statutes and ordinances and pending works taking place in it” stated a NUTA release issued through its president Dr Nzambemo Lotha and Secretary General Dr Kilangla Jamir. According to the NUTA, Nagaland University needs a “strong hand” to correct the entire system and towards this, the association expressed fullest support. “As far as the NUTA is concerned, we will without any hesitation, support and cooperate with any official who are for the rectification, streamlining of the university system and for the healthy growth of the university as a whole with justice. NUTA as a body having equal responsibility and concern for the well-being and development of the university will not tolerate any act that is detrimental to the system” it was affirmed.  

Also, welcoming new Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Professor K Kannan, NUTA expressed hope that he would disseminate “his assigned duties” efficiently. “The association without any doubt has a high hope on him that with his vast administrative background, eminence in scholarship and also reciprocating to the faith and confidence reposed to him by the search committee and the MHRD, he will disseminate his assigned duties efficiently with fairness and justice” it stated wishing the new Vice-Chancellor all the best.
