Dimapur, November 7 (MExN): Expressing dismay and serious concern over the non-payment of dues for services of vehicles used during the 14th Nagaland State Assembly Election held in February this year, the three district units of the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) have decided to join the ongoing AVCOA's indefinite 'Chakka Bandh' from November 8.
In a joint statement, the Peren, Kiphire, and Phek units of ANTA stated that the disbursement of payments has been held for almost 9 months, and the State government's indifferent attitude, despite continued appeals, is a clear sign of absolute disregard for the hardships faced by the association.
Accordingly, the three district units stated that they are left with no other option than to impose a Chakka Bandh within their jurisdiction from 5 am on November 8.
The units further urged the State Government to take the matter seriously, and if any untoward incidents occur, the latter would be held solely responsible.
The bandh will continue until the demands, the joint statement said, further requesting the public to please bear the grievance they are enduring.
Meanwhile, the ANTA Hq Kohima today informed that it strongly supports the All Commercial Vehicles Owners' Association (ACVOA) stands against the Government of Nagaland.
The Association had notified and appealed before the competent authority on numerous occasions through verbal as well as written representation, it said.
However, despite repeated requests, the State Government has totally disregarded and ignored our grievances, it added.
In this connection, the association demanded immediate disbursement of the dues and stated that they would stop all future cooperations with the State Government if the demand is not heeded.
