
DIMAPUR, MARCH 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) has informed all industries, commercial establishments, distributors, stockists, sellers, users, etc that banned Single Use Plastic (SUP) products claiming to be biodegradable (without Central Pollution Control Board certificate) loxo-biodegradable are not to be manufactured, imported, stocked, distributed, sold or used. A notice from the NPCB Member Secretary, H Hukato Chishi, IFS, informed the public that sale of banned SUP biodegradable (without CPCB certificate) and oxo-biodegradable plastics is in violation of Plastic Waste Management Rules. Further, it stated that carry bags made with thickness of less than 120 microns are not to be manufactured, imported, stocked, distributed, sold, or used with effect from December 31, 2022. As per rule 18 of the Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2022, Environmental Compensation shall be levied based upon polluter pays principle, on persons who are not complying with the provisions of these rules, as per guidelines notified by the Central Pollution Control Board.
