Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) has directed dairy farms (having animal population of 10 & above) and gaushalas (Cow shelters) in Nagaland to obtain “Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate” from the Board under under Water Act, 1974 as well as Air Act, 1981 as per the categorization of industries.
Dairy Farms and Gaushalas are classified as Orange and Green Category industry respectively, NPCB stated in a notification.
The consent application form can be downloaded from NPCB’s website https://npcb.nagaland.gov.in/downloads, it said.
Failure to comply with the directions will attract legal action as per the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, it added.
In addition, the Board also notified that the local authorities or corporations (ULBs) should carry out inventory of all the dairy farms and gaushalas located in their jurisdiction in the prescribed Performa.
The same should be updated and shared with the Board as per a National Green Tribunal (NGT) order O.A. No. 46/2018, informed the notification issued by Dr Kenei Miachieo, IFS, Member Secretary, NPCB.
