DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 20 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has informed that the Congress Party has launched a nationwide crowdfunding campaign under the name of "Donate for Desh", along the lines of Mahatma Gandhi's historic "Tilak Swaraj Fund" in 1920-21 that aimed at empowering the party in creating an India rich in equal resource distribution and opportunities.
The campaign was flagged off by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on December 18, in New Delhi. The campaign aims to bring back individual donors to the centre stage of electoral resource mobilisation in an era dominated by PM Modi's opaque and oligarchic electoral bonds, a press release issued by NPCC communications department stated.
The inaugural campaign will be a commemorative initiative, celebrating the 138 year rich history of the Indian National Congress. Donations in multiples of Rs 138 (eg. Rs 138, Rs 1,380, Rs 13,800, etc) will be elicited during this inaugural phase of the campaign and will run online till it culminates on December 28, the Foundation Day of the party, beyond which ground campaigns, including and not limited to door-to-door visits by volunteers, will be initiated.
In this connection, Congress party members, supporters or well wishers desirous of being part of the campaign can contribute via online portal : "donateinc.in”, or by logging in to, " www.inc.in", the NPCC press release informed.
