DIMAPUR, APRIL 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today said it had been compelled to react on the ‘irrelevant’ statement of NPF Press Secretary, R Paphino substantiating Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s ‘chequered life and political career’. “The NPF instead of clarifying the activities of N Rio has tried to divert the minds of the people from the real issue to his inherent or personal assets, which the Congress has no concern and least bothered,” NPCC Vice President Nuzota Swuro said in a rejoinder.
The Nagaland Congress has brought out the issue against Rio’s establishment or embezzlement of public money amounting to crores of rupees after assuming the office of Chief Minister and not what he had acquired while being a contractor, he said. “N. Rio might have been rich and the Congress has nothing to do with his inherent riches, but just being rich does not give any license to siphon public developmental fund for his personal gains after assuming the office of Chief Minister.”
Swuro said the earlier revelations made by the NPCC were just the tip of the iceberg and the NPCC has made public the evidences against Rio’s involvement in embezzlement of public money “but if that is not enough, we are prepared to provide more at the appropriate time.”
