Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): The NPCC Media Cell today alleged in a press statement that the recent seizure of huge consignment of liquor by 31 Assam Rifles at Tuli on October 2 from 12 vehicles forming part of vehicle convoy of a certain political leader as per the media reports belongs to none other than the convoy of NPF MLA from 26 Aonglenden A/C, Toshipokba Longkumer.
NPCC while condemning the incident stated that the open defiance of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989 by an elected lawmaker needs to be condemned by all sections of society. “At a time when the Church and civil societies especially the women bodies are voicing for stringent implementation of the Prohibition Act, the MLA abetting transportation of liquor as part of his official vehicle convoy is a disgrace to all right thinking citizens and should be immediately prosecuted under the NLTP Act,” NPCC Media Cell added further.
Meanwhile, the NPCC applauded the Tuli Town Ward Union (TTWU) for coming out with the details of seized consignment of liquor and vehicles and further appeals to all sections of the Naga’s to be vigilant against such evils perpetrated by our own elected leaders.
