Kohima, January 29 (MExN): The rank and file of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today feted Dr SC Jamir for being one of the Padma Bhushan awardees in 2020.

“It is appropriate to acknowledge a person who has steadfastly stood by the 16-Point Agreement which led to the birth of Nagaland as the 16th State of the Indian Federal Union,” stated NPCC in a press release from its President, K Therie.

“The award comes after 60 years of service and tall standing and it is God’s providence that he lives on to hand over the values of the 16-Point Agreement to newer generations and siblings,” it said.

The NPCC President, in the release, further lauded Nagaland Governor RN Ravi for renaming Durbar Hall as Dr. Imkongliba Hall saying it is “befitting to acknowledge him for pioneering and leading to the 16-Point Agreement. He gave his life for our today.”

The Governor was further praised for recognizing all the Nagaland People’s Convention members.

“We are indeed greatly indebted to their farsighted vision and wisdom that has instilled Statehood with safeguards under the provisions of Art.371(A),” Therie maintained in the release.
