NPCC for CBI probe into scams

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) welcomed the recommendation of the State Governor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland to handover the case of NCSU to the CBI for a thorough and impartial investigation.  The NPCC also appreciated the Chief Minister for endorsing the recommendation. However the NPCC questioned Rio as to why only the NCSU case should be referred to the CBI.

The NPCC in a press note stated that it had earlier sought the intervention of the Governor on corruption cases against the State Education Minister and fraudulent drawal of `18 crores in Police department in which, no action has been taken so far. “Bogus teachers appointment scam, Industrial Transport Subsidy scam, coal supply scam, scam in roads and bridges department; to name a few; are fit cases where recommendation for CBI investigation are long over-due”, it stated.

The NPCC has as such demanded that these cases are also enlisted along with the NCSU case for CBI investigation. The Opposition Congress reminded that the Nagaland Sugar Mill VRS scam is still awaiting the prosecution sanction order of the DAN Government. The DAN government has been shielding the accused in this case, the NPSS stated and demanded that the DAN government immediately issue prosecution sanction to the CBI (ACB-Guwahati) who had completed its charge-sheet long before.

“For the sake of fairness and also to prove that he is serious in transparency and accountability, the Chief Minister should handover all these cases to the CBI. Then, only then, the people of Nagaland will believe that he means business”, the NPCC stated.
