The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has joined the nationwide “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign against the reported examination paper leaks in the country.
As a Congress party, we are not taking it from a political spectrum but from the interest of the students’ perspective, said NPCC Working President C Apok Jamir while talking to section of media persons at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
“If we see, out of the 152 paper leakages during the span of almost more than 10 years, 7.5 crores of children have been drastically affected,” he said.
He argued that the government has been very silent on this and have not taken any proactive action to transform or to redress the anomalies as well as the problems which the students are facing today.
Jamir said that Congress party has taken up this issue “because it is of public interest and it is in the interest of the Gen Z.’
Stating that the future depends on the youth of today, he said “if the youth are not given the right education or the right educational facilities, if they are not given the right platform, then the future seems to be bleak.”
He informed that the Indian Youth Congress and NSUI have launched the nationwide “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign to raise the voice of students against examination paper leaks, recruitment irregularities, and the growing challenges faced by India’s youth.
Jamir recalled that the campaign was launched by Rahul Gandhi in Kota, Rajasthan on I7 July 2026, with the aim of building a nationwide movement for a fair, transparent and accountable education and recruitment system.
The campaign draw attention to the fact that despite numerous reported examination leaks across the country over the years, accountability has remained weak, leaving students to bear the consequences, Jamir said.
Aspirants invest years of handwork, time and financial resources, preparing for competitive examinations, only to see their efforts undermined by corruption and systemic failures, he said.
‘Campaign to continue across the country’
As part of the campaign, Rahul Gandhi addressed a public gathering in Dehradun on July 17, 2026, highlighting the urgent need to end the growing menace of examination paper leaks and ensure justice for students.
In this rally, the students and families directly affected by paper leaks shared their experiences, reminding the nation that this issue is not merely about cancelled examinations but about shattered aspirations and livelihoods.
Jamir said that Rahul Gandhi has called for a transparent and accountable examination system, strict action against those responsible for paper leaks, protection of students interest above all else, independent institutions to ensure fair and credible examinations and reforms that restore confidence in India’s education and recruitment systems.
Jamir informed that the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign will continue across the country through peaceful public engagement, awareness programmes and democratic platforms, with the aim of ensuring that every student gets a fair opportunity based on merit.
He said that the paper leak crisis has evolved into a national epidemic, with over 150 leaks directly irnpacting 7.5 crore students and their families, “yet resulting in zero convictions.”
Millions of aspirants endure immense pressure, spending an average of 10 hours a day for 5 years preparing for exams. This preparation involves a heavy financial burden, and sacrifice for not just aspirants but also their families, Jamir said.
NPCC working president Khriedi Theunuo said “For Nagaland state, we are directing our party workers at the subordinate committee level to also come out and create the awareness about the campaign which has started.”
“For Congress party, we are determined that till justice is delivered, this campaign will continue to expose the failures of the examination system in the country,” he said.
