Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): Hitting out at the NPF led DAN Government in the state, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today lashed out at the DAN Government for failing to deliver justice to the people in matters of development during its last four and half years of reign.
NPCC President, Hokheto Sumi, in a press release, said that the NPCC, while maintaining their ‘persistent stand against corruption’, is constraints to point out some of the ‘glaring issues of DAN government’s wrong policy to the people.
The veteran Congress leader said the NPCC noted with astonishment that the DAN Industrial Policy was to wind up the established industries through privatization. In this regard, Sumi said that without having proper infrastructure to attract tourism, the DAN Government is privatizing the Tourist lodge at Dimapur and Kohima which was looked after by the Tourism Department by getting marginal profit. ‘Even the fate of the employees’, said Sumi, ‘are at stake through the policy of privatization’.
Hokheto Sumi said that except for the three newly created districts viz: Kiphire, Longleng and Peren, the National Rural Employment Guaranteed Scheme (NREGS), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) is now covered to all other districts. Sumi said that this was done through the ‘request’ of NPCC to the UPA government. He added that implementing the scheme as per the central guidelines will determine the sincerity of the concerned department.
Hokheto Sumi also sarcastically said that the ‘notable DAN achievement can be noticed through looting of public money by awarding contract works without observing proper codal formalities’.
Related to it, Sumi demanded that the Government, to ensure transparency in Governance the enquiry reports of Special Investigating Team (SIT) on Gun License, Distribution of Free Text Books, Fake Certificate in NBSE, NPSC Scam, Bogus appointments in School Education, Dimapur Bomb blast… etc, should be made public.
The NPCC President also lamented that the NPF continues to remain silent on the issue of selling jobs by the Lok Sabha MP, Wangyuh Konyak inspite of the MP appearing in different criminal cases registered against him in several courts in the country.
Furthermore, Hokheto Sumi also said that the inaugural functions of completed works by DAN government is only confined to Kohima and Dimapur districts as compared to other districts, which, according to Sumi, shows there is no balance in carrying out developmental works in the State.
Hokheto also made mention that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had been claiming to have fulfilled DAN promises made to the people during the last general election. However, Hokheto pointed out that the Naga Political issue which the DAN had promised to bring final settlement within four months if voted to power is yet to be achieved.
