NPCC President should resign – NPF

Mokokchung, May 17 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has asked Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president SI Jamir to resign  for the Congress’ “below-bar performance” in the elections.  A note from the NPF’s media cell said to be “stunned to observe” that the NPCC president is “still standing tall on high moral ground by ignoring and wishing away” what the NPF claimed is “the mandate of the people”.
As a president of a “responsible party”, the NPF said, SI Jamir should be “sagacious enough to swallow the bitter pill of defeat by honorably resigning from the chair.” “As a matter of fact, through out the Aonglenden by-election campaign the Congress party had been at their best in exhibiting their political morality by delivering sermon after sermon to the people. Therefore, it is quite tragic to note the desire of the NPCC president to cling to his chair even after the defeat of his candidate in his own village ‘Ungma’ who happens to be his elder brother,” the NPF stated.
The NPF was of the opinion that “after the recent elections other leaders in the country have resigned immediately taking full responsibilities but sadly the NPCC president has miserably failed to grasp the political reality.” Calling a “sign of immaturity” that the NPCC president is ‘passing the buck to others for all the things that went wrong,’ the NPF said SI Jamir should resign and shoulder full responsibility for “their below-bar performance.”
More of the post-election tirade between the NPF and Congress parties continued with the NPF Mokokchung division also asking the NPCC chief to resign from the post and pave way for his successor.  The NPF Mokokchung division stated that the NPCC seems to have initiated a tirade of ‘irrelevant accusations on the NPF leadership’ when the ‘ordinary supporters and workers of NPF have humbly settled down to their normal way of life’ after their candidate Toshipokba convincingly won the by-election to 26th Aonglenden defeating his Congress rival. The unit’s president R Lepden Longkumer and general secretary (admn) Mayangnungba appended the note.
Saying that the NPF Mokokchung division will only speak good of the Congress past and muse at their recent follies, the release stated that the NPCC had opened the Pandora’s Box and had it been in mythological Greece the lid could have close with hope inside. “But contemporary parliamentary convention demands that the NPCC president vacate his seat before a second person utters anything. However, blurred, numbed & shocked by their defeat they are just scribbling without any rhyme and reason,” the release stated.
Besides, the release also maintained what it termed ‘the domino effect caused from the game set on the turf of “Bedrock of Naga Society” is still in force and it is a pity that their losing spree had reached the epicenter’.  Also saying that in modern democracy people’s voice is the supreme, the release stated that ‘the NPF acknowledged their support for the defensive verdict with great humility’.
“For posterity to ponder that the conventional ethics are not being put to astray, the NPF Mokokchung Division reiterate that the NPCC President should immediately pave the way for his successor before shown the door by the high command,” the release stated.
