Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The NPCC president, K Therie today questioned the apparent silence of churches in Nagaland over the pulling down of Little Flower Church in South Delhi allegedly “in the presence of police and public in broad daylight” on July 12.
“The silent cooperation of Nagaland to the demolition and persecution of Christians is bewildering,” he stated in a press release.
“We expected Christian states particularly Nagaland would react sharply, condemn and protest the action. However so far, it has not struck their minds,” he said.
“Remaining silent is a betrayal of the commitment and denial of Christ. Christians claiming to have faith in Jesus but support a govt that persecutes Christians are Pharisees,” he further sermonised.
The commitment for Nagaland for Christ is understood to imply readiness to rise and sacrifice for Christ, he said, adding that he heard from some political workers defending themselves that “Hindutva will not come to Nagaland.”
“They mean that it is ok even if Christians are persecuted in other states,” Therie said, further maintaining that “dominance of Hindutva along with political power has caused a religious divide in the nation”. “Safety and security of Christians and minorities are at stake.”
He further noted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has “promised justice immediately but after thought he has escaped shifting the blame on the Centre as the DDA and NDMC are under the control of the central govt.”
“On the other hand, PM Modi claims he was not aware of the destruction of the church at Delhi although it is under him,” he added.
