Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): In the backdrop of the recent anomalies detected in the appointment of state power and power departments, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) expressed strong concern over the inaction of the state government to initiate action against those responsible for the backdoor appointments and at the same time slammed the state DGP for his confession that the Police Headquarter receives application even though no posts are advertised.
The NPCC, in a press statement issued by its Media Cell member, Vitsorel Lcho, pointed out that and there was no mention of 37 UBSIs and ASIs recruitment under the District Executive Force (DEF), even though the recruitment of the post of Constable (GD), ABSI and Havildar in 14th NAP (IR) Battalion was advertised on October 21.
However, the NPCC took strong exception of the state Director General of Police who, while disclosing that the department had adopted a policy recruitment procedure for all vacant posts which would be advertised in local papers to enable the eligible candidates to appear for the tests, confessed that the “PHQ also receives several applications even though no posts are advertised.”
“The question now arises, how the DGP could act violating the rules of recruitment by allowing the Police Headquarters to process the appointments of 37 UBSIs and ASIs under the District Executive Force (DEF), without the posts being advertised,” the NPCC questioned.
In this regard, the NPCC ‘pointed out’ that the PHQ recently recruited 787 Constables for various NAP battalions, district executive forces, intelligence set up etc. without the post vacancies being advertised. Further, the NPCC slammed the Power department, for alleged backdoor appointment.
“It is learnt that the present Parliamentary Secretary (Power) has managed to appoint 40 candidates within the month of September 2007 and about 100 appointments being made after taking charge of the department,” the NPCC alleged.
Giving an example of the anomalies in the department, the NPCC said that the Power department received about 1000 applications to conduct recruitment test for few post of LDA, for which the calling letters were issued to all applicants but were subsequently cancelled.
“It is presumed that those vacant posts of LDAs were filled up by candidates belonging to the choice of authority concerned,” the NPCC assumed.
In this connection, the NPCC declared that, with determined effort, it will always work for transparency and accountability and will not hesitate to correct the ‘wrong system’ prevailing in the functioning of the present Government, ‘which is depriving the employment avenues of genuine and deserving educated youth.’
