Describes last 10 yrs of DAN govt as ‘chaotic’
DIMAPUR, MAY 28 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed solidarity with Dimapur civil society and business community under the aegis of Naga Council for “their effort to streamline taxation and their resolve to pay only one yearly tax payable to any one faction of UGs.”
“This,” the NPCC President SI Jamir, said “is a bold and laudable step and the need of the hour and NPCC extends its fullest co-operation to Naga civil society in its endeavour to start a new innings for our State.”
In a statement to the media, the NPCC President pointed out that it was the prerogative of the State to “protect its subject from any form of taxation other than those imposed by legitimate governments from any groups of people/organisation irrespective of their professed stand or justifications”. Needless to say, the NPCC stated that there’s only one word to describe the last 10 (years) of DAN government- chaotic. “Therefore, in the absence of any semblance of governance it’s only right that civil society step in to protect the harassed public from extra-constitutional authorities not accountable for their actions”.
Terming this as a “huge people’s outcry” and a “public no-confidence motion” against Rio’s government, the NPCC stated that any government worth its salt should hang its head in shame. The NPCC has also stated that it was time that Naga political groups show accountability since they profess to work for Naga interest, thereby “justifying their unreasonable taxation before they lose much credibility which in turn will result in point of no return”.
