The Naga People’s Front (NPF) 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency (AC) held an oath-taking ceremony for its party workers on Thursday, which was graced by Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA of 38 Wokha AC.
Addressing the gathering, Humtsoe urged party workers to be selfless and dedicated, stating that politics demands sacrifice and responsibility. He reminded that holding any position in politics is akin to being a social worker committed to the welfare and progress of the people. He described politics as playing the role of a missionary for societal development, adding that it provides opportunities to empower youth in various sectors. Humtsoe called upon party members to be sincere, stand for truth, and work for the welfare of the people rather than individual gains.
Reflecting on his political journey—from being elected on an NCP ticket, later merging with NDPP, and now with NPF—Humtsoe termed it a refinement process that strengthens the social, economic, and political fabric of the state. Likewise, he urged party workers to remain determined and united under one voice, agenda, and vision through NPF, which he described as the second oldest regional political party in India. He encouraged inclusivity and progress without divisions and extended advance Christmas and New Year greetings for 2026.
Earlier, L Meribemo Kinghen, president of NPF Wokha division, administered the oath. In his address, Kinghen highlighted that NPF, as the oldest regional party in the Northeast and the second oldest in India, commands high reputation. He stressed that once an individual joins NPF, he or she becomes a responsible member, regardless of seniority. Explaining the party’s functioning, Kinghen noted that unlike other political organisations with hierarchical systems, NPF places its strength at the grassroots level, with booth-level workers forming the top tier. At the same time, he urged party members to prioritise grassroots enrolment drives.
Kinghen also informed that oath-taking ceremonies have been conducted across all four ACs in Wokha district. He directed those yet to take the oath to complete the process by January 15, 2026, and instructed AC presidents to appoint village-level party workers through proper coordination.
The programme was chaired by Yanchi K Khuvung, president of the women’s wing, NPF Wokha division. Invocation was offered by Thungchibemo Murry, advisor of NPF Wokha division. Renthunglo Murry, working president of the women’s wing, delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Mharomo V Murry, working president of the youth wing, NPF Wokha division.
