DIMAPUR, JULY 5 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed deep anguish over the rockslide tragedy at Kohima-Dimapur 4-lane near Chümoukedima wherein two people were killed and three injured on July 4 evening.
In a press communiqué, the NPF said such tragic incident may continue to occur if the concerned authority does not immediately find remedy not only to protect human lives but also our environment.
Taking into consideration the report that the Nagaland Pollution Control Board had written and warned the NHIDCL a couple of times over the safety measures and the destructive environment effects that caused rockslides and dumping of debris into the river, the NPF said the NHIDCL did not pay heed and due to their negligence for the safety of the human lives, precious lives were lost tragically.
In this connection, the NPF has appealed the chief minister that the state government takes up proper and sincere investigation immediately and ensure that all erring companies, officials and contractors are penalized.
It meanwhile expressed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for speedy recovery to all the injured in the tragic incident.
