DIMAPUR, JUNE 4 (MExN): The opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) Legislature Party held a meeting today to review the prevalent situation in the state and slammed certain policies of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance. A press note from Imkong L Imchen, Spokesperson of the NPF Legislature Party took a dig at the PDA government’s “change is coming” election slogan.
“They had proclaimed that they are committed to bring about austerity measures in the State by limiting expenditure from the state exchequer by dispensing various unnecessary appointments and streamlining expenditures. However, the government of the day has started random appointments,” the NPF said.
It pointed out that thirteen non-elected persons were appointed in the capacities of Cabinet & Minister of state ranks. “Government is refusing to disclose the facilities being provided them in public domain as committed in their policy of ‘Transparency and Accountability.’ Except for removing nameplates, interestingly PDA government has increased VIP culture,” it claimed.
The NPF further claimed that under the new government there has been “resurgence of factional killings among NPGs and the ongoing political talk on the brink of failure putting the destiny of the Nagas in jeopardy.”
The opposition also slammed the appointment of the new State Vigilance Commissioner without consulting the opposition leader “who should be a member of the appointing committee.”
“This particular person also happens to be the official NDPP candidate in the just concluded State General Election. The action is in total violation of all conceivable rules and regulations in appointment to such a dignified and statutory post,” it opined.
Further the NPF pointed to the “recent imbroglio of NDPP where a notice has been issued to it by ECI, against whom a case has been filed in the ECI for it’s de-registration.” Terming this as an “interesting episode closely being watched by the Nagas,” the NPF expressed hope that the ECI would take action in accordance with the law.
