Mon, July 30 (MExN): A relief team of the Naga People's Front (NPF) visited Mon district on July 29 to express solidarity with families affected by the July 19 landslide that claimed 11 lives and handed over Rs 6 lakh in relief assistance to the Konyak Union.
According to a party statement, the delegation conveyed condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the NPF during a meeting with the Konyak Union.
The relief amount of Rs 6 lakh, collected through voluntary contributions from party members and well-wishers, was handed over to the Union to support those affected by the disaster, it said.
The delegation was led by Advisor to the Chief Minister Apong Pongener and included NPF Working President Ahovi Awomi, Senior Vice President Khongjah Konyak, Vice President Shamlau Konyak and General Secretary Manpha Konyak.
Meanwhile, the party also expressed grief over the landslide at Upper Penli Ward in Mokokchung town on July 28 in which two brothers were killed.
The NPF mourned the deaths of Muwalong Sangtam (19) and Thridiba Sangtam (16), both students of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung, and extended its condolences to the bereaved family.
