NPM 2024: 1st NAP and 12th NAP (IR) vie for overall championship

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, NOVEMBER 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Police Meet (NPM) 2024 is nearing its conclusion, with the penultimate day of the event seeing fierce competition. 2,029 participants from 34 different Units vied for 154 medals and 39 trophies across five sporting disciplines and ten duty items. All events have concluded, and results have now been declared, a press release issued by Convenor, Press & Media, NPM informed on Tuesday. 

In Volleyball, CP Dimapur triumphed over 14th NAP (IR) in a thrilling final to be crowned champions, with DEF Kiphire finishing in the hardline. In Boxing, 13th NAP (IR) claimed the title of Team Champions, while 12th NAP (IR) secured the runner-up position. DEF Mokokchung earned the hardline.

In Badminton, DEF Tuensang emerged as the Team Champions, with 6th NAP finishing as runners-up and 2nd NAP in the hardline. In Football, 6th NAP took the crown as champions, edging out 1st NAP as runners-up, with DEF Mon finishing in the hardline.

In the Battle Physical Efficiency Test (BPET), 3rd NAP led the way, securing the Team Champion title with a Gold medal. 8th NAP earned Silver, while 12th NAP (IR) won the Bronze.

The Shooting competition saw 9th NAP (IR) take top honors as the Team Champion, followed by NAPTC as the runners-up. 12th NAP (IR) and 4th NAP tied for third place.

In Weapons Handling, 12th NAP (IR) earned Gold, while 10th NAP (IR) won Silver, and NAPTC secured Bronze. The Bugle competition saw DEF Kiphire emerge as the victors, followed by 1st NAP in second place and DEF Phek in third.

In the Motor Transport (MT) competition, 1st NAP claimed Gold, with 12th NAP (IR) earning Silver and 13th NAP (IR) taking Bronze. In the Wireless competition, 1st NAP took the Gold, DEF Peren won Silver, and 9th NAP (IR) rounded out the top three with Bronze.

The Family Welfare Competition, based on the annual activity report, saw 2nd NAP in first place, 15th Mahila NAP (IR) in second, and 9th NAP (IR) in third.

The Drill competition is set to be a highlight of the closing ceremony where the 15th Mahila NAP (IR), 12th NAP (IR), and 5th NAP will compete for the prestigious trophy. The overall medal tally shows 1st NAP and 12th NAP (IR) as the leading contenders for the title of NPM 2024 Champion.

The closing ceremony will be held on November 20 at 2:30 PM at the NAPTC Grounds, with the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, as the special guest.
