NPMHR lauds Naga political groups

DIMAPUR, MARCH 11 (MExN): The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) lauded the “wisdom” demonstrated by the leaders of the Naga political groups; GPRN/NSCN, NNC/FGN and the NSCN/GPRN and noted the sacrifices they have been making.
Their roles towards achieving meaningful peace will be remembered by all, stated Dr. Gina Shangkham, secretary general of the NPMHR form Oking at Chamdil (formerly Chandel).
NPMHR also thanked the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) for their patient efforts towards securing peace among the Nagas. The rights body said that when Nagas were faced with “seemingly” insurmountable challenges, the FNR’s efforts provided much hope and comfort.
It expressed concern over the intermittent outbreaks of violence and confrontations, and the “concomitant self-justifications and blame game” among the different political groups, particularly those who have signed the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR).
It cautioned that violence affects not just the parties at confrontation but the public at large.
NPMHR urged all these political groups to abide by the CoR and refrain from violence to create favourable conditions for the reconciliation process to continue. This they said would “pave the way for the top leaders to come together urgently.”
NPMHR also remind every Naga that it has a stake in the process and therefore must continue to support it.
